GreenTeam Wins Major HUD Plumbing Renovation Contract in Miami Beach, Equaling Big Win for Skilled Tradesman
GreenTeam Service Corp. has been awarded a $2.1 million contract for all plumbing-related work to the complete building renovation at Council Towers being completed by MCC, a nationally recognized General Contractor. The Council Towers project is mandated to be performed as a prevailing wage contract.
“Prevailing wages provide skilled tradesmen with the highest rates and best employee benefits possible,” explained James Terry, CEO of GreenTeam Service Corp. “We will be able to add jobs and stability, which is incredibly important during the current economic climate.”
As a steadfast advocate of the local plumbing union and the trades as a career, Terry added that the company’s affiliation with the local plumbers union will allow them to manage the workforce needed to schedule ramp-ups.
Council Towers is a senior low income housing apartment subsidized by the federal government’s Housing and Urban Development Division (HUD). To accommodate Council Tower residents, the plumbing retrofit will take place in phases over 18 months, beginning in the north tower. Upgrades include core infrastructure and a new rooftop high-efficiency hot water system. New fixtures and valves in each unit and common areas will meet ADA standards. Ramon ‘Piti’ Gomez, Senior Project Manager for GreenTeam, will be overseeing the project.
Council Towers North and South are located at 1040 and 533 Collins Avenue in Miami Beach. The 12-story buildings were built in 1979, and there are 125 units in each building.
MCC is nationally recognized as a contractor based in Oceanside, California. Specializing in retail, housing, restaurant, and hospitality sectors, MCC partners with companies and organizations at the national, regional, and local levels to meet construction needs, emphasizing relationships and exceeding customer expectations.
